4th Annual Farm Seminar: Center for the Sciences and Agriculture Tour

Our farm seminar is right around the corner on March 16th (Thursday) and if you are planning to attend you might just want to arrive early for a special treat! Paul Hall & Associates has partnered with the Wilmington College Collegiate Farm Bureau in order to give a behind the scenes tour of the new ag facility to those that arrive between 6:00-6:30. There will also be a final tour following the conclusion of our event.

For those that don’t already know, Wilmington College has just gone through recent renovations. The Center for the Sciences and Agriculture, once known as Kettering Hall, is now a 47,500 square-foot state of the art building. It has 10 classrooms, 10 laboratories, three research labs, two 100 seat lecture halls and 30 offices. The building is also Silver LEED certified as an environmentally friendly facility. This state of the art building solidifies Wilmington College as a premier college for agriculture.

Wilmington College is home to 1,100 students and their College of Agriculture is one of the largest areas of study on the entire campus. This has allowed Wilmington College to partner with Ohio Farm Bureau to establish a Collegiate Farm Bureau on campus as a student organization.

Steve Berk, an organization director for Ohio Farm Bureau in Clinton County, has played a large part in the student organization. He has assisted in organizing trips and activities for students. Each year they take two trips to D.C. and they expose over 50 students a year to ag policy in Washington. They also are involved in programs like Ag Day at the Capital, Young Ag Professionals Events and AgriPower.

Wilmington College Collegiate Farm Bureau (WCCFB) is really a great partnership between Farm Bureau and Wilmington College,” said Berk. “By working together, we are really able to provide the students with some great opportunities.”

During the Farm Seminar, Collegiate Farm Bureau members will be on campus. They will be assisting the event by providing the tours of the new state of the art facilities! Just let us know at the registration table that you would like a tour! We hope that you will arrive early in order to see this beautiful, new facility that will provide educational opportunities for future agriculturalist for generations to come!
